Managing Director

Working with the Executive Director/CEO, the Managing Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of Trousdale School. The Managing Director leads our core staff team to advance Trousdale School’s mission, vision, and strategic plan. They will provide top-level leadership for overseeing administration, communications, human resources, operations, facilities, and programs, working closely with each area leader. As a member of the leadership team, the Managing Director will be involved in a range of high-level organizational activities, both internal and external.   

Primary Duties 
Communications and Marketing 
• Build awareness of the organization through outreach to constituents and the entire community.
• Plan and manage routine external communications work.
• Plan and manage routine internal communications oversight, as needed.
• Build strong positive relationships with donors and potential donors, partner organizations, government officials and policymakers, and key volunteers.
• Seek, consider, and move forward with opportunities in print, digital, social, and other media.
• Grow the volunteer base to assist in fundraising efforts and programmatic support.
• With the Executive Director/CEO, manage marketing opportunities and the organization’s brand, and advise on public-facing marketing efforts.

Administration
• Ensure smooth daily operations, staffing, and volunteer coverage.
• Work with our staff to manage facilities and ensure an ever-improving student experience on the campus.
• Step in to support students where needed. 
• Provide administrative input for project management for grant-funded and other specific projects, as requested.
• Focus on executing our Strategic Plan each day, working towards good, thoughtful progress over the course of each year… then begin planning again.
• Lead staffing efforts including hiring, training, and orientation.
• Actively participate in compliance efforts in support of accreditation (every four years) and our licensure (annual)
• Required to attend all school special events.
Other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements 
• Passion for our mission to support our students in their quest toward increased independence.
• Minimum of seven years in a nonprofit or for-profit leadership position with demonstrated success in leadership and general management.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience working with a vulnerable population or similar facility preferred but not required.
• Must accept responsibility and work with minimal direction and supervision.
• Demonstrated ability in public speaking, precise and effective written and oral communication, and effective group skills.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record and history.
• Pre-employment background checks.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid.
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, as needed.
