Senior Engineer

Cleveland Utilities Authority, a municipal utility providing electric, water, wastewater and fiber services to the Cleveland, Tennessee/Bradley County area is seeking a Senior Engineer. This position will be responsible for all aspects of the engineering department, maintaining and expanding a water distribution system and sewage collections system. Position can include design of capital projects at the wastewater treatment plant, and water treatment plants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist with Water and Wastewater Engineering Department functions to include but not limited to:
    • Development of the Water/Wastewater Engineering Department capital budget.
    • Review and approve water and wastewater facilities for private development.
    • Develop plans and specifications for capital projects.
    • Assist with Water and Wastewater GIS mapping.
    • Inspection of construction of water and wastewater facilities.
    • Direction of capital project/design and construction management.  
    • Assist other areas with capital budgeting, management of all capital projects, use of consultants and other engineering related items.
    • Assist customers as necessary.
    • Develop standards and policies related to the installation of water and wastewater facilities.
    • Support water and wastewater operations, as needed.
  • Manage outside consultants to consist of selection, fee negotiations, scheduling, payment and review/approval of work.  
  • Knowledge of SRF requirements including application procedure, disbursement requests, document preparation, and construction procedures.
  • Confer with the public, consultants, and contractors concerning projects.  
  • Other duties as assigned by Engineering Manager of Water and Wastewater.
 
 PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (four-year accredited college/university) Required: Field of Study Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering license or ability to acquire.
  • Ten plus years of experience in water and wastewater.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • A valid Class “D” Tennessee Driver’s License.
  • Available to work after hours when needed and perform call duty.
