Cleveland Utilities Authority, a municipal utility providing electric, water, wastewater and
fiber services to the Cleveland, Tennessee/Bradley County area, is seeking Fiber Install Technician
II to handle troubleshooting and installation for both residential and commercial internet and
phone services. Responsibilities include in-home troubleshooting involving CAT6 cabling, Wi-Fi
setup, and related services, as well as commercial installations ranging from standard setup to
advanced solutions such as VLANs, Carrier-Grade Ethernet, HPBZ, PRIs, and other voice services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Troubleshoot and repair residential internet and phone service installations.
• Perform in-home cabling, including CAT6 installation and terminations.
• Set up and configure Wi-Fi networks for optimal performance.
• Install and maintain commercial internet and phone services.
• Implement advanced commercial networking solutions, including VLANs, Carrier-Grade Ethernet, HPBX, PRIs, and other voice services.
• Complete FTTH (Fiber to the Home) installations as needed.
• Ensure all work meets company quality standards and adheres to safety protocols.
• Work independently or as part of a crew to meet project timelines.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
• Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• High school graduate or GED (general education degree): Required.
• Valid Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License with an “N” endorsement.
• Certification in fiber splicing, safety (OSHA 10/30), or telecom fieldwork.
• Two plus years’ experience in the following:
o Hands-on experience in telecommunications, networking or related technical installation work.
o Proven experience with cAT6 cabling, Wi-Fi setup and troubleshooting residential internet/phone
services.
o Familiarity with commercial networking environments, including VLAN configuration.
o Carrier-Grade Ethernet, and business-class voice services (HPBX, PRIs).
o Prior experience with FTTH (fiber to the home) installation and fiber termination, preferred.
o Experience using networking testing tools, cable certifiers, and optical time-domain
reflectometers (OTDRs) a plus.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office
• Physical ability to climb and do heavy manual work.
