Accounting Clerk I

Cleveland Utilities Authority, a municipal utility providing electric, water, wastewater and fiber 
services to the Cleveland, Tennessee/Bradley County area is seeking an Accounting Clerk I to 
provide accounting and clerical financial support to the General Accounting Department at Cleveland Utilities. The role performs a variety of accounting tasks focused in one or more of the following areas: Banking and Reconciliations, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or Payroll Processing.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Δ  Process, verify, and reconcile financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner
Δ  Maintain and update records in the financial system
Δ  Assist with monthly closings and year-end reporting processes
Δ  Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures and documentation standards
Δ  Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure data accuracy
Δ  Maintain accountability for meeting all required timelines related to financial 
processes
Δ  Specific Job duties will vary based on functional focuses listed below:
    o Banking/Billing/Transaction Reconciliation
            • Monitor and reconcile bank statements and internal accounts
            • Investigate and resolve variances in daily deposits or receivables
            • Support billing and invoicing processes
    o Accounts Payable
            • Review and process vendor invoices
            • Ensure appropriate approvals and documentation
            • Coordinate payment schedules and resolve discrepancies with vendors
    o Payroll
            • Review and enter timesheets or payroll data for accuracy
            • Maintain employee compensation records in coordination with HR
            • Process payroll runs and adjustments as needed
Δ  Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manger of General Accounting

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:
•  High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
•  Associate’s degree (two-year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: Accounting or related
?eld.
•  No prior experience necessary.
•  This position requires basic computer skills and general knowledge of Microsoft systems such as Word, Excel, and Office 365.
