Women's Council: "Overcoming Unconscious Bias in the Workplace"

Event Sponsors

Tennessee Wesleyan University

Join us on Monday, August 23, at noon as we continue our Women’s Council programming in a hybrid format. Our August program will be sponsored by Tennessee Wesleyan University.

Our theme for this year is “Reconnecting in 2021”. Dr. Jason Robinson, Associate Professor of Education at Lee University will present to the group on “Overcoming Unconscious Bias in the Workplace”.

Unconscious biases influence a vast majority of our workplace decisions. If not kept in check, organizations may let these biases influence decisions in ways that could be harmful to the organization. These biases refer to the associations that are made between different qualities and societal categories such as race, gender or disability and are judgements that we make without conscious awareness.

Hear how to help make an organization a more supportive and engaging place to work by understanding the perceptual, institutional and psychological processes that impact the ways people interact with each other.

Dr. Robinson is a local, state and national award-winning educator. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development from Lee University, a Master's in Educational Administration and Supervision and a Doctoral Degree from the University of Tennessee with a concentration in Learning and Leadership.
