What: Undertaker Productions proudly presents “Strings Across the Mountain”, a benefit for the community of Canton, NC in the wake of the devastation from Hurricane Helene. Description: Like many of you, we’ve struggled with how to help our friends and neighbors in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Western North Carolina is a region we love for its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and great music. We’ve had so many good times in the Asheville area enjoying amazing performances, whether it be in a packed theater or a quiet street corner. Many of those places are facing an epic struggle. Why Canton? Often, it’s the smaller places in our world that are forgotten in the midst of an event like Helene. Canton is a small but special place. Located on I40 along the Pigeon River, it is 17 miles west of Asheville. Historic flooding in 2021 resulted in severe downtown damage. A large mill which employed more than 1000 persons closed in 2023. Now Helene. Canton also happens to be the home of Darren Nicholson. Darren is loved and revered in the world of bluegrass music, not only for his great musical talent but also for his wonderful demeanor. He came to Cleveland for an Undertakers house concert last year. You don’t meet Darren and not become a friend. He is an incredibly talented and engaging entertainer that you’ll love. He and his band are deeply rooted in their community. They are so grateful for the opportunity to help the place they love, share the story of that place, and give us some great music. A fund has been established at the Community Foundation of Cleveland and Bradley County to accept all donations. Your donation amount over $30 is tax deductible. Our Community Foundation will work with folks on the ground in Canton to get the funds where they are most needed. Let’s share some Cleveland love (and money!) “Across the Mountain”. Don’t miss it!
