We are back in-person!!!! Join us for the 28th presentation of the Mel Bedwell Small Businessperson of the Year Award at our annual luncheon presented by Pinnacle Financial Partners on Wednesday, May 26, during Small Business Month.
Our speaker will be Mitch Patel, founder of Vision Hospitality Group. He founded Vision Hospitality in 1997 with the goal of creating a company dedicated to excellence with a focus on community and family. Today Vision holds a growing portfolio, including the company's first boutique hotel, The Edwin, and a pipeline of 9 properties affiliated with premier brands such as Hilton Worldwide and Marriott International.
Mitch has led Vision to be the recipient of many awards, as well as industry media recognition in the fields of development, community service, design and achievement. A native of Cleveland, Mitch serves on the Marriott International Franchise Advisory Council and the Hilton Worldwide Owner's Advisory Council. Mitch maintains his presence on boards of local organizations that support education and economic development in Vision's hometown of Chattanooga, TN. He also serves as the Vice Chair of the Convention and Visitor's Bureau and is an advocate for ending human trafficking in the hospitality industry. His efforts have earned him nationwide recognition, which includes his most recent honor of receiving the NSDAR Americanism Award.
The Mel Bedwell Small Business Person of the Year Award luncheon honors an outstanding small business person in Cleveland and Bradley County for their success in six areas: staying power, growth in number of employees, increase in sales, innovativeness of product or service offered, response to adversity, and evidence of contributions to the community.
The Chamber board of directors renamed the Small Business Person of the Year Award to honor the memory of Mel Bedwell, who was known for his energy, determination, ingenuity, honesty, enthusiasm and loyalty—all traits necessary for a successful small business owner.
