The 21st annual Job Shadowing event for high school students at Bradley Central, Cleveland and Walker Valley, and Tennessee Christian Preparatory School placed 269 students at 60 businesses and industries across Cleveland and Bradley County.

“After reading the student evaluations of their shadowing experiences, it is evident that this is one of the most beneficial programs the Chamber offers,” Sherry Crye, director of workforce development, shared.  Job Shadowing gives students an opportunity to learn about requirements and responsibilities necessary for a career that interests them.  “Many times the Job Shadowing experience affirms for students that they really want to pursue a particular career and continue to prepare themselves,” Crye stated.  “Also there are times when students learn from the experience that the career they are considering is not what they thought and that they need to make plans to pursue another career path.”

Crye continued, “We appreciate the businesses and industries that make it possible for students to have this sometimes life-changing experience.  Their investment of time and resources matter as we try to prepare our students to become the community’s workforce of tomorrow.”
